So what exactly is coaching?
Coaching provides the necessary resources, strategy, psychology and accountability to help individuals achieve the results that matter most to them, in any area of life.
What is Grow-Beyond Coaching?
Grow-Beyond is a professional coaching service designed to work in partnership with you. Coaching sessions help you, through focused conversation, work through your agenda as you consider what matters to you in your personal and professional life. I am likely to use tools or strategies to assist you to become more self-aware and clarify where change needs to occur to enable growth beyond your current situation or stage of life.
Who is Grow-Beyond for?
There are four general categories of people who come to coaching:
People who need some help figuring out what they want. These people often feel lost, stuck, overwhelmed and confused. These feelings typically manifest in states of frustration, anxiety, dissatisfaction, anger, low mood and sometimes even depression.
People who don’t know how to make it happen, even though they know what they want. Here people are usually overwhelmed and are currently unable to see the way forward. Or they may have tried some things in the past and haven’t been successful, so they want to consider new options in the support of moving forward.
People who know what they want, and know how to make it happen, but they just aren’t acting on their plans. People who fall into this category often feel stuck because of a psychological block, which may include procrastination, fear, a limiting belief, an internal conflict, or a general lack of motivation.
People who want to be pushed out their comfort zone whilst being held accountable for their actions. They are people who know what they want, know how to make it happen, and are taking action. These people are high performers who often manage other people, but don’t have someone holding them accountable, providing an unbiased sounding board and helping them improve their own performance.
How is coaching different to therapy?
My coaching training originates from theory and techniques rooted in traditional psychology, however unlike social work, counselling, clinical psychology, psychiatry, and other kinds of therapies Grow-Beyond Coaching is not about processing your emotional history or diagnosing mental health issues.
Grow-Beyond Coaching is action-oriented which means coaching conversations are focused on the future where next steps are considered to get you from present self to your ideal self. Whilst therapists often wish to address the origin of a behaviour, I am more concerned about assisting you to consider how present behaviour, or limiting beliefs might be hindering you from actualising your ideal self.
My role as a coach is to help you move from the realm of insight into setting goals and acting on these goals so you can move forward.
